Why I Am Who I Am, Nadya Tatsch (Health Letter – August, 2012)

It is my health story. How I recovered from being sick every month to a healthy, fit and vacuous woman.

Nadya_Tatsch Shaklee Independent Distributor Murphy TX USA 75094

I was born in Saint-Petersburg, Russia. I graduated with Bachelor’s in Education and Master’s in Psychology. While working on my graduate degree, I started working with children with special needs. In 2000 I met a wonderful man. In 2003 I moved to the United States. After my second daughter was born (in 2007), I totally went into focusing my time and energy on my family and children. Meanwhile I was not taking care of my own wellbeing. I was not sleeping enough, not eating properly, under stress, ect. It may sound familiar to moms. Within first four months (after having a baby), I shrunk from size 8 to size 00. I was sick (with a fever) about a week out of a month, every month. My health was in total mess. It was devastating!

I started looking for natural ways to get healthy.
I was raised on garlic and honey. I knew there should be something out there better than just medication or synthetic vitamins (btw, the ones bought in general stores). My sister-in-law brought me a box of vitamins. She said they were natural and asked to try them for 30 days and if I didn’t feel a difference, the company would give my money back (guaranteed). By the way, I didn’t even know that she had been in the company for 20 years. * A few months later I was a totally NEW person! I was not getting sick any more. I also had so much energy!!! I felt so great, and my next natural step was to start working out. So I did! I build my health with Prescription for Health! And I was building my body with Shaklee Cinch.

shaklee 100% guaranteeLater on, I opened the product guide and found Shaklee milestones since 1915 and over 55 years of environmental leadership and scientific innovation. For example, 1915 – doctor Shaklee creates one of the first Vitalized Minerals; Shaklee was the very company in the world First Climate Neutral Certified, 1987 – Shaklee powers the first human-powered flight (72 miles across the sea), 1993 – Shaklee creates the product for NASA, ect. How didn’t I know about Shaklee before?!
total green non-toxic house

I started using more Shaklee products. My kids were taking vitamins. My 5-y.o. stopped having frequent ear infections. I totally greenalized our household. The house didn’t smell chemicals any more. The last but not the least was nutritional therapy skin care Enfuselle. From top to bottom our family was going green. If you are committed to become healthy/green, you have to go all the way. You should be healthy inside, out and around. Shaklee offers it all. Shaklee is The-Best-of-Nature-with-the-Best-of-Science products for healthy nutrition, healthy weight, healthy personal care, healthy children, healthy sport nutrition, non-toxic homes, ect. It just makes sense to use Shaklee.

By going healthy and green all the way, one can experience a Shaklee lifestyle by earning Shaklee income. How? By using products for yourself (just like it did), Shaklee rewards you. When you share this gift of health with friends, Shaklee rewards you even more, and you can have your products paid for. By being ALL IN Shaklee business, Shaklee rewards with four trips a year and a car payment. **

Omega-3 Fatty Acids and Children’s Health (Health Letter – June 2012, updated 2015)

sprouts Omega-3s Fatty Acids Fish Oil

Adjusted from Superwellness for Superkids by Shaklee >>

Omega-3 fatty acids, also known as polyunsaturated fatty acids, are essential to human health but cannot be made by the body. For this reason, they must be obtained from the foods we eat. Good sources of omega-3s include fatty fish and certain plant foods, including olive oil, flaxseed, and walnuts.

There are three major types of omega-3 fatty acids consumed in foods and used by the body: alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). The body converts ALA to EPA and DHA, which are the two omega-3 fatty acids used most readily by humans. However, because this conversion is fairly inefficient (less than 5%), dietary consumption of both DHA and EPA is highly recommended— especially in young children in order for them to meet their significant need for these important omega-3 fatty acids. Research continues to validate the important role these omega-3 fatty acids play in normal growth as well as in the early development of a child’s brain and eyes. Read the rest of this entry »

Healthy Child’s Experts & Autism

by Rachel Lincoln Sarnoff
Executive Director/CEO, Healthy Child Healthy World

“..Guess how many chemicals have been restricted since TSCA was passed in 1976? Five. Yes, you read that right. Five…
..In a nutshell: Autism is America’s fastest growing developmental disability. An estimated 1.5 million children are currently affected by autism spectrum disorder in the United States. Autism rates have risen nearly 400% in 20 years, to the point that now one out of every 100 children—or one out of every 70 boys—is statistically destined for diagnosis..
.. the unregulated chemicals that infuse our children’s lives to the point that today babies are born pre-polluted with more than 200 chemicals in their blood, just from pre-natal exposure..
“We live, breathe and start our families in the presence of toxic chemical mixtures and constant low-level toxic exposures, in stark contrast to the way chemicals are tested for safety,” said Donna Ferullo, Director of Program Research at The Autism Society. “Lead, mercury, and other neurotoxic chemicals have a profound effect on the developing brain at levels that were once thought to be safe.”
Just to be clear: There is no clear data on why autism occurs. Most scientists agree that there are many factors—from genetic to environmental—which may increase risk for ASD. Hundreds of genes have been associated with autism, some of which are inherited and some of which are found in people with autism but not in their parents. Large numbers of environmental factors are being looked at as well. These include chemicals, infectious agents, and various health problems in the parents. Autism may result from a combination of risk factors.”

Johnson & Johnson and Wal-Mart Sued for Selling Toxic Baby Shampoo

Johnsons Baby Shampoo

Johnson's Baby Shampoo

If you purchased Johnson & Johnson’s Baby Shampoo or Wal-Mart brand Equate Tearless Baby Wash, you may want to stop using it. A class action lawsuit has been approved this month that claims these products may contain a toxin linked to cancer.

The class action lawsuit, filed earlier this year, accuses Johnson & Johnson and Wal-Mart Stores of selling shampoo and baby wash that allegedly contains methylene chloride, an ingredient banned by the FDA in cosmetics because it’s linked to cancer. The law firm that filed the lawsuit is also investigating Target’s Night-time Bath and Body Wash, which is not currently named in the suit.

A third Johnson & Johnson plant is now also under investigation for alleged quality concerns. The new Johnson & Johnson plant is one that manufactures Pepcid and Mylanta among other products.

What to do? The Natural Power suggests considering Shaklee Baby

Flavored Milk at Schools – Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution

Wow, what a response!

In the past week over 30,000 have signed on to Jamie’s call to stop serving sugary flavored milk in schools and bring back plain, white milk instead.

But to make a REAL difference, we need to find more supporters
– anyone you know who is concerned about their kids getting too much sugar.

Forward this email to your friends and ask them to join the thousands of parents who believe schools should replace flavored milk with wholesome white milk instead.

The Food Revolution team

P.S. Get the full post from @TheSlowCook on flavored milk

Dear Food Revolutionaries,

Too much sugar is threatening the health of our kids and we’ve got to do something about it.1

Flavored milk, the chocolate and strawberry milk which is served for breakfast and lunch at school, is sweetened with sugar that kids don’t need and just adds extra calories to an otherwise healthy drink.

The facts deserve to be taken seriously. According to the National Dairy Council, flavored milk contains about 4 teaspoons of added sugar; plain white milk2 doesn’t have any added sugar. It also contains colors, flavors and artificial sweeteners that don’t add any nutritional value. Check out the label and you’ll be able to see for yourself.

Many parents don’t realize this, but chocolate milk has the same amount of sugar as a soft drink (that’s the added sugar plus the natural sugar contained in all milk). Just one additional soft drink per day increases a child’s obesity risk by 60% and is a major contributor to Type 2 diabetes3.

But there is something we can do. Join me in asking schools to promote plain, white milk instead. Help spread the message that wholesome, plain milk is best and that sugary, flavored milk should only be enjoyed as an occasional treat.

Support the Food Revolution campaign to bring back plain milk in schools:

Big Love,

Jamie and the Food Revolution team

P.S. Want to help bring the message of plain, wholesome milk directly to your school? Find a local group near you to get in on the sugary milk day of action!

1.The Harvard School of Public Health has shown that there’s strong evidence that sugar-sweetened drinks contribute to the development of type 2 diabetes.

2. The National Dairy Council says that on average, an 8 ounce serving of chocolate milk contains about 4 teaspoons of added sugar. You can read their Flavoured Milk in Perspective report here.

3. There’s been a 10-fold increase in childhood diabetes in the last 20 years; and one additional soft drink per day increases a child’s obesity risk by 60%, according to the Harvard Public Health Review.
